~t GREAT SHORTAGE OF MANY LINES. Many lines of hardware are in very short supply, and ft is quite possible that betoio long certain lines will be unobtamabie. Ui some of tliese Messrs Hastie, Bull, and dickering, Cash el street, have email stocks, and they can this week otter the following scarce lines: Scythe blades, scytne handles, axes, "one man" saws, hand saws, hack saws, screwing tools of various threads, engineers' tools, pliers and wrenches, drill chucks, lathe chucKs, screws for metal and wood, etc. Wire netting is extremely scarce, but Messrs Hagtie, Bull, and Pickering have a little, particularly in fowl netting, 3ft, 4ft, and 6ft wide. They also have a fair stock of staples. iiooiing material is a problem, but this firm is offering an excellent Canadian Compo Roofing at a low- price. To cover a square yard of' roof with corrugated iron costs to-day about nine shillings. The roofing offered runs out about eighteenpence to the square yard. Table cutlery, razors (including "Bengali"), scissors of all kinds, including embroidery, are also to be had at Hastie, Bull, and Pickering's wellknown establishment opposite Ballantyne's, Casliel street.. Prices are not low, but the qualitv in every case is high. i

A French communique states that the Serbians reached the Danube on October 30th. between Semendria and Belgrade. Tney occupied Belgrade on November Ist, when the commander of the First Serbian Army solemnly entered the city. FRENCH OFFICIAL REPORT. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) (Received November sth, 1.15 a.m.) IX)NDON, November 4. A French Eastern communique states: — Following the capture of Belgrade the defeated Germans and Austrians have retired to the north bank of the Danube. The Second Serbian Army has reached tho Bosnian frontier. Almost tho whole of Serbia is now liberated.
