Tho "Daily Chronicle" states: The imminence of a «nuoral election has led unofficial Liberals and Unionists to arrange lor a o inference this week, with the object of maintaining the Coalition Government in power after the war. It is hoped that it will bo possible to avoid many electoral contests. There is a widespread fooling that tho complexity of post-war problems requires the pooling of the best brains in tho country, and that party government on pro-war lines -will b3 a danger. It is generally recognised that the Administration needs strengthening, particularly on the Liberal and Labour sides. THE NATIONAL DEBT. (Received October 31st, 7.45 p.m.) LONDON. October 30. In the House of Commons, Mr Stanley Baldwin, Financial Secretary to the Treasury, stated that the National Debt outstanding on September 30tli was approximately £fi,875,000,C00. PRESIDENT WILSON'S 14 POINTS AS APPLIED TO IRELAND. ("The Time*.") (Received Octobor 31st, 7.45 p.m.) LONDON, October 30. In the House of Commons, at Mr Dillon's request, the Government allotted Tuesday for a discussion on a motion favouring the application of President Wilson's fourteen points to Ireland.
