BOROUGH COUNCILS.
4 AKAROA. The fortnightly meeting of the. Akaroa, Borough Council was held on Wednesday. Present—Crs. A. R. Munro (Deputy-Mayor), D. Fyfe, J. Kerridge, W. Kearney, W. W. Williams, T. Lewitt, C. W. Leete, and P. E. Davis. On b&half of the Wairewa County Council, Messrs Harper, Son, and Pascoe wrote (stating that it was intended to claim from the Borough. Council a certain proportion of ihecoet of maintenance of the main traffic road through the county, it being alleged that the wear and tear on the road was due in & large measure to the through motor trafSo to Akaroa. A letter from the Banks- Peninsula Patriotic Association, dealing dth the bequest o) the late Mr ft. XVoonan towards the cost of a, war memorial, was held over for furtber consideration. Requests from two ratepayers "for a refund of the excess charge on their electric light accounts were granted. The reports of the Works and Lighting Committees were adopted. The Finance Committee's report tihowted the receipts to hare been £241 Os 9d. The electric light account showed a debit balance of £1895 8s 3d, the wharves account a credit of £334 3s Dd, and the general account a credit of £380 15s. The bank overdraft was £1180 10b. The report was adopted. It was decided to send a representative ' to the meetings held monthly at thj> Hill Top, to further the proposal to extend the Lake Coleridge scheme to the Peninsula.
