W ELLlNCfiffc)is", October 30. •H 11 InrgeJy-afcftnded meeting of public .servant,s, the following resolutions, wcro carried:— (1) "That tho present war bonus is quite inadequate to meet even a reasonable part of the decreased purchasing power'of our salaries."' (2) "Therefere we request the Government to grant, during the present session of Parliament, an increase of 2o per cent, on the first £200 of all salaries, with a minimum of £50 for married men, such increases to take effect from April Ist. 1918." (3) "That this meeting deplores the action of the Government in postponing ttie re-grading of the service, and asks the Govornment to take steps 'o repeal this legislation during the present session' of Parliament." rpi . AUCKLAND, October 30. liie Auckland section of tho Public Service Association passed a resolution demanding that the Government, during the current session, should take such steps as would lead to a substantial increase of the salaries of public servants, giving' special attention to the salaries of the lower paid officers.
