N.Z. MINISTERS IN ENGLAND.

SIR JOSEPH WARD INTER-

VIEWED

"ON THE ROAD TO VICTORY."

(By Cable.—Prees Association,—Copyright., (Australian and N.Z, C&blo Association.) (Received September 4th, 7.20 p.m.) LONDON, September 3. Sir Joseph Ward, who was interviewed, said he was immensely struck with the fine spirit of all classes, their fiied determination to go right on, and the general aversion to peace by negotiation. The latter would be a disaster to the whole civilised world. We I were now certainly on the road to victory, and it was only a matter of time when we should secure the repayment of our great sacrifices. Labour had acted well. Without its co-operation the successful carrying on of the war would he impossible. There was no need for gloominess over the future. The people who had provided their own requirements, as Britain had done during the war, could be depended upon to meet the after-war conditions satisfactorily. Sir Joseph Ward added that he would go back satisfied that the authorities here were anxious not to allow the Pacific Islands to revert to Germany.
