TRAMWAY COPPER TRAIL.

MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. The ejjecrutiv© of the Tramway Copper Trail met last evening, Mr L. B. Hart presiding. A letter was received from the Town Clerk, stating that the use of the Patriotic Bazaar in Cathedral square could not be given on October Ist, 2nd, and 3rd, but that permits for September 27th and 2Sth had been granted in lieu thereof. The secretary stated that Mr J. S. Hawkes and he were arranging for these two days as motorists' days. Various donations towards the -Fund were received. The chairman announced that the Papanui ladies would take charge of Cathedral square on Friday. There would also be a walking contest on the part of Papanui ladies that afternoon, the first contestants being expected to reach Cathedral square at about 2.45 p-m. Thirty "ladies had entered for the contest, the route being from Bealey ayenuo to the Squaro alon" Papanui road. Any lady leaving the bulk of the others before reaching Cook and Ross's corner would be disqualified. After reaching Cook and Ross's corner the competitors could walk as fast as they liked. Messrs F. \V. Joties and A. S. Clarkson were appointed the judges. It was ako announced that a co-ae-you-plcase race would be held on September 20th, the distance being 2i miles, competitors startiiig on each of the six tramway routes at the same time. It was decided to writ© to tno country districts asking them to arrange concerts, for which the executive would provide performers. The Entertainment® Committee were recommended to arrange a half-mile walking contest, confined to members of the executive at the conclusion of the go-as-you-please race, non-starters to be fined £1. Mr H. R. Sellers reported that a collection of flowers, made by the pupils of the Beckenham School, had realised £5. Mr A. C. Maxwell advocated the holding of a flower day by the children of all the schools. . Mr Sellers eaid the committee were already making the desired arrangements. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mrs Macdonald for her work in collecting flowers and generally. POSITIONS OF DISTRICTS. At noon yesterday the positions of *h© competing districts in the Tramway Copper Trail were as follows:— I—Pink: Opawa, St. Martm s, Cashmere, Sydenham. 3 Buff: Sumner, Lyttelton, Heathcote, Woolston. 3—Green: Spreydon, Riccarton, Lincoln road, Coronation street. 4—Yol'ow: Fcndnlton, Papanui. s—White: Marshland, Cranford street, Edgeware road. 6 Blue: North and South Brghton, I>allington, Bromley, and liinwood.
