CASUALTIES.
» WOMAN FOUND DROWNED. At 7 o'clock yesterday morning, the body of a heavily-built woman, apparently between 45 and 50 years of age, was found on the beach near the Cave ltock, Sumner. It was clothed in a brown coat, dark skirt and jacket, suid on tli.3 feet were lace-up boots with rubber heels. An inquest was opened at the Cave Rock Hotel yesterday afternoon by Mr H. W. Bishop, Coroner. Evidence as to tho finding of the body was givon by Constable Hampton, and the inquest was then adjourned, as the body had not been identified. The body has since been identified as that of Eilen Harriet Wilson, who resided at 66 Montreal street, and was a widow with five children. She was employed as waiting-room attendant at the Christchurch railway. stationAllan James Russell, a visitor from tho North Island, was motor-cycling with his wife in a sidechair over a railway crossing in the neighbourhood of Rangora, when the machine capsized. Mrs Russell was apparently uninjured, but her husband suffered injuries to his hands and back, and was conveyed to the Christchurch Hospital. A man was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital last night, in an unconscious state, suffering from serious injuries as a result of a tramway accident. The police give his nam© as Frederick William Faulkner, and state that the accident occurred near the Colombo street-King street stop. An operation was performed on Faulkner last night, but at a late hour lie was still unconscious. (press association telegram.) ROTORUA. September 3. John O'Brien, aged 52, a commission agent, died suddenly last night. He was reading, when he collapsed and died in half an hour. He had suffered from heart trouble for over three yenrs. He was well known on the West Coast of the South Island.
