"Westerly winds, etrong to gale, have prevailed, with unsettled conditions and rain in many parts. Present indications are for high and squally west to south-westerly winds, weather dull to overcast, rain probable generally, snow in the south, and on th© higher levels, and colder weather following, rivers high ou the West Coast and southern districts, and heavy 6eas on all the western coast, the barometer rising everywhere shortly.
