CASUALTIES
SUICIDE. 1 Jolin Proctor Mullen, aged 6o years, was found dead yesterday morning in a shed near his house, in Hackthorne ' road. A gun v.as found by his side, 1 one end of a piece of string being attached to the trigger and the other end being tied to the foot of tho deceased, tho top of whose head was blown off. An ; inquest was held before Mr H. W. ; Bishop, Coroner, during which it was , stated that deceased had. not long ago been discharged from the Christchurch Hospital. The verdict was that deceased committed suicide by shooting himself while in a state of unsound mind. I
