SALE STALLS IN THE SQUARE.

TO THE EDITOR OF "THE PRESS." Sir, —I understand there is a movement on foot to erect a permanent building in Cathedral square for the purpose of effecting the sale of goods, etc., on behalf of war .patriotic funds. I believe such a movement a most unwise one, and would suggest instoad that a few portable stalls (on wheels) •be constructed, which could be towed into tho Square on collection days, and when not required could be left in the Council yard. This course would obviate the unnecessary expense of erecting and demolishing temporary structures on each collection day. Would also suggest that each stall be constructed differently, and on quaint and artistic lines, end perhaps in some way emblematic of this little nation —New Zealand. —Yours, etc., M.
