A PROGRESS REPORT

,IEVENUE CONTINUES HIGH

The Acting-Minister of Finance (the Hon. Arthur Myers) has given details of tho revenue and expenditure for tho ooarter ended Juno 30th, 1918, as com-, pared with the similar quarter of l<Ji7; also tho revenue for the month of June, 1018 and 1917, and the twelve months ended J"" 0 30tll > as compared ff ith the same period ended June 3Uth, -1917. Commenting on the figures, tho Minister said: "1* will be noticed that the revenue for the quarter just eaued shows an increase of £610,419. This is duo to additional pensions and to the fact that interest and sinking fund charges are glowing heavier year by year as new loans ore raised- As will Ik? seen, the increased permanent charge for interest and sinking fund alone amounts to £086,56-1.
