A PROGRESS REPORT
,IEVENUE CONTINUES HIGH
The Acting-Minister of Finance (the Hon. Arthur Myers) has given details of tho revenue and expenditure for tho ooarter ended Juno 30th, 1918, as com-, pared with the similar quarter of l<Ji7; also tho revenue for the month of June, 1018 and 1917, and the twelve months ended J"" 0 30tll > as compared ff ith the same period ended June 3Uth, -1917. Commenting on the figures, tho Minister said: "1* will be noticed that the revenue for the quarter just eaued shows an increase of £610,419. "fhe expenditure for the quarter e n<leti June 30th, 1918, shows aa increase of £797,793 over the same quarter for 1917. This is duo to additional pensions and to the fact that interest and sinking fund charges are glowing heavier year by year as new loans ore raised- As will Ik? seen, the increased permanent charge for interest and sinking fund alone amounts to £086,56-1.
