FACING AND TROTTING
NOTES.
(Bt "Searchlight.")
Acceptances for the Canterbury Park Trotting Club's Winter Meeting close on Tuesday at noon.
The Addington track, -which is in fair order, was freely used yosterday.
J. J. Wright was one of the first to work, and drove Electrocute two miles. The Electioneer gelding ia on tho improve. Olive L. with E. Berry in the sulky, trotted a couple of miles. The Dominion Cup winner did not act very well. Agathos (A. Hendricksen) covered two miles, assisted by a galloper. Tho time was slow, suggesting that the O.Y.M. gelding could have done much better. He is bearing a well-trained appearance. J. Deyell drove Agnes Chief, with Gipsy King on the lead, a good solid journey. Agnes Chief, who has bee freely raced this season, is standing up to her work well. ■J MriDermott did light work with Cora Dillon and Capriccio. More than likely, the last-named will begivena run at Ashburton next month in the principal two-mile rape. Harold Junior, driven by his owner, A. Brown, sprinted several quarters. The Harold Rothschild pacer bricht and well, and put plenty of dash into his work. Quadroon, another member of Brown's team, .was given walking exercise. Frank Tfticey (C. Johnston) paced freely without the hopples. He wjU race in his new owner's interest at the forthcoming Canterbury Park Meeting.
Master Park, with E. McDermott in the saddle, gave a moderate showing over a mile.
Our Chum (E. Berry) paced a mile and a half with the straps on. A. Cox joined in over the last mi a with the three-year-old Galindo— Arclight« gelding, but he was of little use to Berry e horse, who moved well. B. Jarden was down with MatcUight and, with A. Pringle in the sulky, the son of Four Chimes was responsible for a useful work-out over a mile and a half. He paced with plenty of dash, and is very well at present.
A Cox did not ask Reta Peter or Marietta for anything but three-quarter pace. Both have done a lot of work and are well forward.
C. James worked several of his voungsters .at from half to three-quarter pace. The three-year-old filly. Rose Peters trotted ;over several circuits, and moved pleasingly. ' i A. Hendricksen drove Peter Mac several rounds nt half to threo-quarter pace. Ho showed speed in patches.
Silver Quick was not unduly hurried by E. McDermott while pacing a mile in saddle.
• A diminutive five-year-old pacer by Willowwood from Lonapo, the property of Mr W. Pasooe, was given strong exercise by E. McDennott, and showed speed in patches. W. Glasson waa on the course with a fonr-year-old pacing gelding by Harold Dillon from a Rothschild mare, and a three-year-old trotter by Petereta from the same dam. Both shaped pleasingly in their work. Recent additions to C. James's stable are a two-year-old gelding by El Carbine from a Rothschild mare„ a throe-year-old filly by Petereta from a Sacramento mare, a two-year-old filly by Brent Locando from the same dam, a two-year-old gelding by Petereta from a Wildwood mare, and a three-year-old (illy by Petereta from' Pansy.
Mr E. E. Lelievre, of Akaroa, recently had the misfortune to lose a fine colt foal by Great Audubon from a Bingen mare. . Only a few days ago the youngster was .sold to an Ashburton sportsman for a substantial figure, but delivery had not been given..
Mr \Y. F. Wootten's three-year-old filly Rose Peters, by Petereta from Rose Elect, who finished third in the New Zealand Trotting Stakes at Forbury Park last February, is joining A. Pringle's team, to be prepared for future engagements.
