Tho following; is a resume of the play: — Second Round. Brighton v. Canterbury—Those knowing tho players engaged considered that the match would prove an easy thing for Canterbury. However, the Canterbury players could not collar the green, and Ainger led "by 7 points to 2 at the end of the seventh head. On the 14th head Brighton was leading by 13 to 7, and a 2 and then a 5 to them placed th*> result beyond doubt. Kaiapoi v. Rangiora—For more than twothirds of this game the contest was most interesting. At 7 heads the board read 6t05 in favour of Kaiapoi. Papanui v. Linwood—This was another well-contested game and up to tho 18th hc-ad the is-sue was in doubt. On the first 7 heads Cooper scored a 3 and 2 singles to four einples by Gow. Lin wood then held possesion for 4 heads, scoring 5. Papanui then came to light, and 6cored G, whilo on the 14th head they got 5, which placed them ahead by 15 to 11. Cooper then scored 4 on three heads, ma.king 15 all. Papanui, in the last 4 heads, had the best of it, fretting a 2 and three singles. St. Albyia v. Sydenham—This proved a runaway game for St. Albans, who got a strong lead at the start, and were never caught. At 7 heads the scores read—Wilson" 0, Scott 1. and a.t 14 heads 15 to 7. A well-earned 5 to Sydenham on tho 15th head made the gaire 'cok like becoming interesting, but it was only a flash in tho pan, and St. Albans won with plenty to spare. United 1 r Opawa—Brackenridgo made a bo'A bid at the start, scoring 7 on the first three heads. A 5 to Opawa on tli* sth head made matters more equal, and on tho seventh head the score was 8 to 7 in favour of United. From this out Taylor had the best of the contest, scoring on fi out of tho next 7 heads,, putting on 9 to Bruckenridge's 3. Two more sinclcs were credited to Opawa, and then United scored a- 5. following up with a single, the scores on the ISth head reading 18 to 15 in favour of Opawa. Three more to Opiwa and to United left Opawa a | comfortable winner. Third Round. St. Albans v. Ashburton —After the way Ashburton treated Edgeware tho previous Saturday, it wus thought that this game would prove a. close one, but such was not tho case, and the result was never in doubt. Wilson ran up a score of 9 to 3 on the first 5 heads, and a> 5 for St. Albany on the BLh head made things unpleasant for the Southern pla.yers. They improved somewhat, and at I*l heaos the scores lead 18 to 10. Both Oakey and 'Wilson were playing exceedingly well, and frequently lobbed their opponents of well-placed shots. The la3t 7'heads w«r» much in their favour. Lyttelton v. Opawa—After tho exhibition given by the Opawa players in their previous game, this contest was a very indifferent one. Taylor got in two singles, and then Sinclair scored 5, 7 and two 2's, the board reading 14 to 3at 7 heads. During the next 7 heads Lyttelton added 8 in 5 head® to 2 singles by Opawa. Henderson was playing a very line leading game, and although Owatkin was drawing some good shots he was out-matchod. A 7 well got by Sinclair, a 2 and two singles, .to a 2 by Taylor left Lyttelton 25 points to tho ° Kaiapoi v. Papanui—This was another well-con tested game, and was only decided on the 1-net 7 heads. At 7 heads the scores wore 6t04 in favour of Papanui. In tho second 7 heads Gow scored a 4 and a 2, to 8 points scored by itonk in 5 heads, the teams being 12 all on the 14th head. Then came a knock-out to Kaiapoi by Gow getting 6in one pot. The Kaiapoi players stuck to it well, and in 3 heads rubbed out 4 of the total against them, but Papanui camo again, and scored singles on three heads, finishing 5 up. . New Brighton v. Sumner —The Brighton pair again showed to advantage, and generally had all the best of the game. At 7 heads the scores read 7 to 6 in favour of Ainger. Twice during the next 7 heads disaster met Sumner, when Brighton scored 5 on the 11th and the same number on the 13th head, the scores reading 21 to 9 on the 14th head. On the 19th head the position who hopeless for Sumner, and they retired, Brightou being 12 up.

I CENTRE BADGE MATCH. The 12th match for tlic Centre Badges wafl played on the United, green on Saturday altornoon, with the following result: Linwood (challengers)— Kings land, Russell, Claringbold, Coe (e) 32 v.
