CHEVIOT. At tho monthly meeting of the Cheviot County Council there wore present—Councillors T. ft. Gee (chairman), T. Stevenson, and C. Barnes. "With regard to tlic proposed groynes in Goto Bay, the chairman suggested that the matter had better be left over until tho Council could inspect tho locality.—Agreed to. The Minister of Internal Affairs wrote regarding identification marks on motor-cars and cycles. The clerk to the Amuii County Council wrote stating that the Dining-room Creek was passable. Tho Kowai County Council wrote asking for tlie Council's support against any tion iu tli© name of the Hurunui electorate, it was moved by Councillor Stevenson, and seconded by Councillor Barnes: —"That this Council strongly .protests against any alteration in the name of tho Hurunui electorate, and against tho chief polling place and centro being fixed at Kajkoura." . The motion was carried, and the clerk tva9 instructed to forward a copy to Mr G. AV. Forbes, M.P.
