FIRES.
1 BIG BLAZE AT OHAKUNE. (F2UIS3 ASSOCIATION TKLEQBAJI.) TAIHAPE, November 7. A disastrous fire occurred at Ohakuno, originating in the Defence Office, at 12.30 this morning. Twenty shops and their contents in tho business centre ot the town were completely destroyed. In tho absence of -water and fire-fighting facilities, the fire brigade and the public were helpless in stemming the flames. A stiff breeze carried the fire till thero was nothing further to burn in its course. Nothing remains but a mass of charred, smouldering wreckage. The insurances are unknown, but the damage done will run well into five figures.
