"GERMANY MUST SAVE PEACE." ROMAN CATHOLIC ACTIVITIES. A. MISSION TO SWITZERLAND. (By Cable—Press Association—Copyright.) (Australian and. N.Z, CaMo Association.) PARIS, Juno 3. Monsignor Baudnllart, president of the Ftench Catholic Propaganda Society, in an article in "La Croix," '-he Catholic organ, states that the German Catholics recently attempted to induco their French to join in a tjeace movement. Herr Erzbergcr, die leader -of the German Centre Party, attended a meeting of tho Swiss Catholics held on May 18th. They promised their support, and agreed to sound the leading French Catholics and Bishops. Herr Erzberger told his intimate friends that the real reason of his Swiss mission was that Germany was exhausted and must have peace very soon. The French Catholics refused to join the movement, saying that no party was entitled to substitute itself for the Government in tho discussion of such problems.
"GUARANTEES FOR FUTURE." WHAT GERMANY WANTS. (Router's Telegrams.) ' LONDON. Juno 3. Tho "North German Gazette" aas published an official Note declaring that Germany is not seeking for territorial aggrandisement, nor for the increase of hor eoonomic or political power. "Germany," the article said, "only wishes to defend her own territory in order to securo guarantees for hor future." BULGARIAN MONEY. CLAIM FOR FORFEITURE. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON. June 3. A Commission lias opened seeking to secure the forfeiture to the Crown of £46,0G1, due from tho London branch of the Credit Lyonnais to tho National Bank of Bulgaria. Counsel for the respondents explained that tho transaction occurred when Bulgaria was neutral and was expected to join the Entente. The French Government raised the loan. The hearing has been adjourned. GERMAN CLAIMS. THE BALKANS' REAL FRIENDS. BERNE, June 3. At Germany's instigation Austria is distributing countless pamphlets and newspaper articles in Roumania and Serbia, declaring that the Austrians and Germans are their real friends, and adding that Russia used Serbia as a cat's paw for her own purposes and drovo Roumania into tho war.
