THE FALLEN AND WOUNDED PERSONAL XOTES. A cablo message from London appearing in Wednesday's "Press" stated that Lioutonant-CoUmel John Whiting, of tho Middlesex Regiment, who had latterly been attached to the Royal Naval Division, had died from "wounds, and that he "was formerly a residont of Wanganui. This is believed to he Lieu-tenant-Colonel WHiteman. who has relatives in Christchurch, the above facts being coincident with him. Liouten-ant-Colonel Whiteman. who was a New Zealander, served with tho First New Zealand Contingent in tho South African War, and subsequently secured a commission in the Imperial Army, Ho was tho only officer of his regiment who was not killed or wounded during the rotroat from Mons. Mrs Richards, senr.. of Riverside, Ashburton County, has been advised that her &on, Cyril, who left with the 11th Reinforcements, and was seri- | ousiv wounded in the head on Scptem--1 b3r lGth last, has boen invalided home. 1 Mr A. J. Merton. 18 Chester street, has received cable advice that his son, Captain J. L. C. Morton, M.C.. 7th Reinforcements, was dangerously ill on May 28th, and that his case had not been diagnosed. Captain Morton was wounded on May sth. and has been in hospital since, and it was assumed that he was progressing favourably. Advice has been received from Franco by Mr E. C. Mouldey that his son, Lieutenant W. E. Mouldoy, of tho Lancashire Fusiliers, who was slightly wounded, has returned to his regiment. Lieutenant Mouldey left Auckland in May, 1915, for England, and after receiving his commission in the Lancashire Fusiliers, acted ns bomb offieor to that regiment until his departure for the front at the beginning pf this year. Mr J. EC. Mnynard, of Clifton.
