AMERICAN MILLIONAIRE SWINDLED. (By Cable—Press Association—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) PARIS, May 6. An extraordinary case is reported of an American millionaire. James Slater, aged fifty-six, who came to France a year ago with a younjr Dutch woman. They lived in a chateau, where she imprisoned him in a summer-house and subjected him to tho most cruel treatment. She rocently married the chauffeur, and the pair forced Slater to sign cheques for several million francs. Tney have been arrested on a charge of swindling.
