WELCOME SOCIAL. Seaman D. Clark, R.N.R., who is on leave after two and a half years of active service, wad accorded a welcome home by friends in the Foresters' Hall, Lytteltou, last night. Dancing, interspersed with musical it-ems, helped to pass a very pleasant evening. HOPE OP CHRISTCHURCH LODGE. Tho Hope of Christchurch Lodge, 1.0. G.T., held its usual meeting in tho Manchester ■Chambers, Sister Mardon, C.T., presiding. Two candidates were initiated. Bro, Gunnell gave a report of tho Grand Lodge session. The following officers were clectcd:— C.T., Sister Mardon; V.T., Sister Cooper; secretary, Bro. McFerran; F. Sec., Sister M. Sweney; treasurer, Bro. Gunnel!; chap., Sister L. Dwight; M., Sister Black; D.M., Sister Savage; G., Bro., Holland; Sent., Bro. Shepherd; pianiste, Sister M. Sweney; registrar, Bro. Hampton. JUMBLE SALE. A jumble sale was held in Holy Trinity schoolroom, Lyttclton, in aid of the Kcd Cross Funds. It was organised and carried out by the Lyttelton branch of the Mothers' Union, and proved most successful. Tho sale was opened at 2.30 p.m. by the DeputyMayor, Mr J. T. Norton. It realised £44, out of which a few small expenses have to be mot. Tho stallholders were as follows: —Clothes stall, Mesdamcs Hcwland, Peebles, Blain, Bam ford, Sterling, and Mclntjrre; produce stall, Mesdamcs Henstone. Griffiths, and Forrester; book stall, Meadamee C. Bowdcn and E. Illingworth; miscellaneous staLl, Mesd&mes Hutchinson, Irwin, Barbour, and J. Sowden; bran tub, Mesdames Lester and G. Porteous, and the Misses N. "Lester and M. Porteous; tearooms, Mesdames Dale, Brise, and Russell. RUGBY STREET METHODIST CHURCH. Very successful anniversary services jn connexion with Rugby street Methodist Church were held on Sunday. In tho morning tho Rev. A. C. Lawry conducted a family service, with a children's rally, Lator Mr W. Simpson provided a choice musical service, which was deservedly appreciated by a large congregation. The cantata selected x'or the occasion was "Light Everlasting," and the soloists were Madame Claris Holgato and Mr Ifex Harrison. At the evening service the Rev. J. Paterson, M.A., officiated,, and to a crowded congregation delivered a practical discourse on "Christ's Idea of a Christian." In addition to eolos the services included tho following anthems:—"l Will Sing of Thy Power," "The Wilderness" (Gosa) and "Rock of Ages" (Challinor).
