PRISON GATE MISSION.

ANNUAL MEETING. The. thirty-fifth annual meeting of the Prison 'Gate Mission was hold at tho Y.M.C.A. Rooms ye-sterdayf Dean Carricgcon presiding over a small attendance. Tlie annual report showed that the work of the year had been carried on in a quiet, unostentatious manner, and had assisted many men and women, v.hen a helping hand was most needed. The establishment of the new prison at Templeton had reduced the number of those at Lyttelton by about 40, ana 'he removal of the * tailor's shop to Wellington had also reduced the numbers. A number of poor women had been assisted. The report added that Miss Guise had taken tho place of Miss Rollnston. The society deplored the loss of Mrs Guise. The balance-sheet showed a loss of £16 las on the year's working. Dean Carrington, in moving the adoption of the report and balancesheet, stated that tlie society was worthy of all the public fiupport that could be accorded it. The balance-sheet and report were adopted. The following were elected a committee: —Dean Carrington, Rev. Canon Coates, Rev. J. R. Hewland, Captain Marciel, J. If. Stringer, and Misses M. Ollivier and Guise. A vote of condolence was passed with the relatives of the late Mrs
