MAGISTERIAL (Before Mr H. W. Bishop, 5.M.) DISMISSED. James Herbert Carr, who appeared in uniform, was charged with stealing a bicycle valued at £G, belonging -to E. Orothers. at Addington, on November 11th. The ca6B was dismissed. MAINTENANCE. John Hunt (Mr Cassidy) was ordered to psy 10s -weekly towards the support of his wife and child. ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. An old man, 72 yearp of age. named William Semple,' charged "with having attempted to commit suicide at Lower Riccarton, on November 18th, was convicted and discharged. AN HOTEL ROW. A. McGuire .(Mr Cassidy) wa s charged with refusing to quit licensed premises when i->qucsted to do so, with using obscene lan gun go, and with assaulting Arthur Molloy. Accused was prohibited, and lined 20s, or seven .days' imprisonment, on the charge of assault and 40s, or one month's imprisonment, for the obscene language, the other charge being dismissed. JUDGMENT SUMMONS CASES. In Mary Jane Woodcock (Mr Rowe) v. Benjamin Bronkhurst, debt £1G IGs tid. the defendant made an offer of 10s per month, which Mr Rowe declined to accept. In the course of his examination the debtor said that he was an advertising agent earning about £4 per week. His wife was in receipt of 7s fid weekly alimony from a previous husband whom Bbo had divorced. An order for £1 per week was made, in default 1G days' imprisonment. Thomas Morton Brady was ordered to pay J. and A. Mturnings 'Mr Williams) £4 17s 2d forthwith, in default, four davs' imprisonment. In Alfred Bray (Mr Howe) v. William Flavell (Mr Thomas), claim £11S lis (id, the debtor said that bo wr.s a draper's assistant earning £3 a week, of which ho paid £2 per week for board. Ho was ordered to pay the debt at the rate of 10s nor week, or in default, three months' imprisonment. There wa:i no appearance of Jacob Henry Reynolds, who was ordered to pay Benjamin Perry £3 lis Gd, forthwith, in default, three days' imprisonment. L. L. Philpott was given judgment against J. L. Car] for the amount claimed, £151 L3 S 2d. In Andrews. Baty and Co. (Mr Williams) v. Arthur Bull (Mr Cassidy), claim £14 19s 6d. the debtor said he was a tramway guard averaging £2 18s per week. He had a wife and two children. No order was made. No order was made in tho case of William Paton v. Alfred Rin.gd.al, claim £4 14s. Debtor said that ho earned on tho average £3 per week, and had a wife and nine children. In tho case of Adams, Ltd. (Mr Williams) v. Edward Thomas Adams, claim £3 8s fid, the debtor said ho 'had a wifo and nine children, and earned on the average £2 og per week. No order was made. SMUGGLER FINED. (PRESS .ASSOCIATION TKMGRAM.) AUCKLAND, December !). At the- Police Court to-dav. Frederick Webb, a fireman the Ruahine, was charged with having smuggled 18 table-knives, and being in possession of other knives valued at £32, being dutiable goods. Accused pleaded guilty and was fined £100, which the Magistrate reduced to £25. '
