TEMUKA ROAD BOARD.
* The monthly meeting of the Teinuka Road Board was held "n Thursday." Present— | Meears D. Grant (chairman), A. R. Guild, G. j Smart, J. J. Kllis, and G. McCullough. ; Mr J. McEnnis, district engineer, advised that he was sending a supervisor to look after tho general construction work on the j bridgo over the Orari river.—lt was decided j to xoply that the pegs put in to mark tho j exact, site had been washed away. Several residents complained that their ' erop3 had been swamped through the Board's neglect to clear a drain, and asked for com- ■■ pen-sation.—The applications were not enter- , ' mined. ; Tho Timam agent of tho Public Trustee . advised that ho was remitting £o0 to the ! Winchester Hall Committee horn the Hob- | son bequest. Tho chairman pointed out that, it was apparently the intention of the Public Trus- , too 'to "keep th 2 rents of tlie Hobson Trust ' property iti Wellington, which would not bo i so satisfactory 33 the practice hitherto followed, by remitting it to thi local bodies L concerned. Tlie overseer reported that a good deal of surface work had been done-, bathing sheds had been erected at Milford Lagoon with ' funds received from tho Hobson Trust fund. j Mr Taylor applied for pipes for a gatci. way. but the request was declined. Mr Southby's offer of -1 for pine trees was accepted. t An application from Mr T. Quinn to have a drain filled in and a new ons constructed on North Town belt was again considered, (, and it wa3 decided to contribute up to £1® towards the work, piovidcd Mr Quinn gave - the Board a strip of land in tho line of the , drain. The overseer was instructed to inform the ~ men that work would be stopped during tho harvest, to enable them to assist with the harvest.
