OBITUARY.
The dmth occurred on Sunday of Mrs Mary Tregear, of llemuera, Auckland, at the age of 92 years. She was the widow of the late Mr William James Tregear, 11.X., a captain in the P. and 0. Company's service, who died on his ship in the Indian Ocean in August, 1809. _ Mrs Tregear, who, at that time, was living in England, later came to New Zealand, arriving in Auckland in 1863, during the Maori War. She had livod dnring .">3 j'ears in and arounil Auckland, which she saw grow from a very small settlement into the large and important city it now is. The surviving members' of the family are Mr Edward Tregear, 1.5.0.. formerly Secretary for Labour, Miss Tregear, who is also now superannuated after many years' sen-ice in the Education Department, and Mrs H. C. Morrison, widow of the late Major Morrison, of tho New Zealand Permanent Artillery, who was the officer in charge of the fort at North Head. Auckland, for many year?. A remarkable fact concerning the deceased lady is that since her husband's death, 57 years ago. there has been no death among anv of her children or numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildreii.
