The Foreign Office states that Press messages from Greece are. misleading, inasmuch as the Royalists have regained control of the cable and Press censorships, and the Allied Press correspondents at Athens have been threatened with personal violence similarly with all others suspected of Venizelist leanings. There is reason to believe that the Royalist forces and mobs have been guilty of very grave acts of violence. NEWS FROM ATHENS. ROYALIST BARRICADES. (Australian and N. 2. Cable Acsociation.) December 7. j A wireless message from Rome says that, advices frem Athens state that General Dousmanis and Colonel Metaxas, and other Gerruanophiles. have not been called to power. King Constantine has ordered tho disarmament of all civilians. Greek navigation has stopped completely, and the communications with tho islands aro interrupted. The arrests of Yenezelists and domiciliarj- searches continue. The Liberal newspapers have not been published, and the Royalists havo erected barricades in the streets. BRUTAL OUTRAGES. VENIZELISTS MALTREATED. (Rcutsr'a Telegrams.'; LONDON, December 6. A telegram from the British Legation at Athens states that two Greek lied Cross nurses, after tending a wounded Legation porter all day long, were subsequently arrested and dragged before tho head of tho police land shut up fi>r 30 hours without food or water in a filthy latrine, suffering continuous attempts at raping them. Their house was looted. They havo now been released, and state that the police headquarters arc filled with Vcnizelists. Some have been battered to death. Some have had their eyes gouged out. The late head of tho secret police was tied to a post and beaten on tho head with a club by an Orthodox Greek priest. A PLEA FOII ACTION. i LONDON, December 6. M. Venizelos in messages to friends in Loudon urges the Allies to act immediately, in what he describes as a perilous situation.
