An Austrian communique says:— "The important railway junction of Ploesci, north of Bucharest, has been captured.'' Ploesci is S3 milcG north of Bucharest, and is an important railway junction. December 6. * Berlin has announced that Bucharest j has been captured. j A FURTHER DANGER. AMSTERDAM. December (3. A German correspondent says: "The victory on the Arges was only possible because the Roumanians had no time to destroy the bridges. Tho Ninth German Army is incessantly attacking the Roumanian rearguards and marching straight upon the oil fields of Prahova. The "Giornale d'ltalia" states that there were six thousand German spies in Bucharest when tho war started. Many were arrested, and others interned o*ll the morning war' was declared." Tho King ordered the arrest and courtmartial of all the nalace servants. THE SITUATION". FALL OF BUCHAREST ASSUMED. (Australian and X.Z. CaK« Association.) (Received December Sth, 12.20 a.m.) LONDON, December 7. The i all of Bucharest has been so long expccted that its announcement caused no sensation. News is now anxiously awaited as to the condition of the Roumanian army. Another danger threatening is the German advance on the flank of the Russians and Roumanians in Moldavia. The Germans now control the Roumanian railway system, and have probably secured enormous supplies of wheat, cattle, and oil. The fall of Bucharest and Ploesc: shortens the German line by 300 miles, and enables the diversion of large forces to he made elsewhere. Meanwhile a fragment of the Orsova army continues its resistance, though

j many have been taken prisoner. It i (has notv been cut- off for nearly three | weeks, but rather than surrender is j continually appe-aring at new points.
