CANTERBURY ROWING- CLUB. The Canterbury Rowing Club's Trial Pairs Taco will commence to-day at 6 p.m. ami be continued to-morrow. The club's President's Fours race will be commenced tomorrow evening, and on Saturday afternoon the finals of both races will be rowed. UNION ROWING CLUB. Th© final of th© Union Rowing Club's Trial Double Sculls race was rowed last evening, th© winning crew being T. H. Grenfell and S. F. Hemmingsen. The first heat, between F. Foster and <X Ward and F. W. Williams and H. C. Ross was a splendid race, the latter winning by a lenjth after a neck and neck race. The"second heat was between T. H. Grenfell and S. F. Hemmingsen and J. Forrester and W. Easterbrook; the former winning' bv about three lengths. 'The semi-final was between G. xl. Walker and F. Matthews and F. W. Williams and H. C Ross. Walker was unfortunate in losing his slide just after the start and lost by about two lengths, and although he ms»ia a big cfibrt could not catch up. The final was between Williams and Ross and Grenfell and Hemmingsen. From a good start, Willirms and Ross drew away about half a length, but Grenfell and Hemmingsen gradually overhauled them aid at the Avon shed were a length in the lead. Williams and Ross made a bid for the finish, but Grenfell and Hemmingsen won a good race by half a length. ■".,._ . Entries for the Trial Pair Oar Race close neii Monday evening.
