GREAT SCIENTIFIC DISCOVERY.

♦ PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE BODY'S ORGANS. • A discovery which is, to say the of it, of surpassing interest to doctors, and indeed to tho world at largo, is now on its trial in France, says the medical correspondent of "The Times." No pnhlic sta'tement has teen mado about it yet. According to the "British Medical Journal,' the work, "though very quietly performed, has given rise to a host of rumoure, surmises, and conflicting views." This is not surprising when it is understood that the discovery is quite as important as was the finding of Xravs, and much more remarkable. With the X-raj, in a darkened chamber. it is possible to obtain a picture of the bones and more solid structures, but by means of this discovery it is possible in broad daylight to obtain detailed pic. tures Of any organ of the body, brain, liver, kidneys, spleen, and to see at a glance by what gross lesions they aro affected. Thus it is possible to see the blood vessels in the brain, to observe a blood/ clot in that organ, to detect abscesses i* the liver and wounds or cuts in anj organ. The name of tbe inventor is given at James Shearer, aged 30. at present 4 sergeant in the R.A.M.C., and working at a casualty clearing station. By birth he is a Scotsman, bnt he received hia late education in America, where he graduated MJX. Ch.HL, at the University of Washington. Ho could not be given a commission, as the medical degree he holds is not ono of those recognised in Great Britain,
