PAPER WITH A PRICE ON ITS HEAD. Ths N newspaper "La Litre Belgique," ■"which, in spite of all the vigilance of the German authorities, continues to be published in Brussels, recently issued . a special number on the anniversary of Belgian, independence containing tlio National Anthem, an article about the anniversary, and a patriotic drawing (says a Reutcr message of September 12th). The German authorities have offered i a reward of £3750 to anyone disclosf iajr the identity of the editors and publishers. However, «>n editorial note in the "Libre Belgique" states that the paper ia "written and printed in a motorcar," and its publication continues. In this connexion Senator Hallet has already been arrested and taken to Germany. Several other arrests have been made an d a number of persons brought before courts-martial, including a man named Dubar, who was sentenced to deportation, and a priest, "who was sentenced to eleven years' hard labour, and also Mks Schepens, who has to undergo five years' imprisonment. Not long ago the Germans searched the convent of Saint Michel from, roof jj a r * -^ ie y battered in the walls and dug three feet down under the floors of the cellars, but no printing machines could be found. v? do luxe of fifty copies was tw v c< * recently, printed on old yutch paper, with ten drawings, inelud. idr pictures of the Royal Family and photographs of the fighting on W Yser.
