(Received November 12th, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, November HA Russian communique says:— "By means of a sudden counter-at-tack wo recaptured a section of the trenches lost at Skrobowa. "The enemy fiercely attacked cast of the Narajowka against a ridgo of heights, but was overywhero repulsed until tho afternoon, when ho succeeded in pushing back portions of one of our regiments. The enemy was again driven out in the evening. "Enemy offensives in the wooded Carpathians south of Dorna VVatra were repelled." TREMENDOUS FIGHTING, THE ENEMY ACTIVE. (Australian and N.Z. Cabl© AB#oci»tioß.) PETItOGRAD, November 10. Evidence that tremendous Russian and German fighting is imminent is being- discussed. Great German activity is noticeable south of Dvinsk, and tho report that] the Orowu Prince has been ap- j pointed to the command of a group of armies on tho northern front ie exciting comment. The Russians have taken over <8 miles of the Roumanian front south of Itorna Watra. Russian efforts may be directed against Guenziane, in tho hope to separate the left flank from tho centrc. THE WAR WON NOW, BUT TIME STILL REQUIRED. LONDON, November 10. ' 'The Times" publishes an interview with General Brusiloff, who declares: — "The war is won to-day, though it is a matter of speculation as to how much longer will be required to convince the enemy that his causo is irretrievably lost. " Despito superhuman efforts, tho enemy has utterly failed to regain the initiative. Russia has not yet reached the zenith of her power This will bo approached next year, when wo shall have tho largest and best army we have had since the beginning of tho war. Tho offensive of 191G was cpnducted with inferior material, and with few heavy guns. We will be on an ©quality with* tho enemy in 1917. The now Russian levies are equal to our best troops. The went temporary reverses in Roumania have not tho slightest significance. It would have been serioiTs if Germany had pierced tho Carpathians, but her last attempt to regain the initiative is doomed to perish. Itussia is determined that Roumania ( shall bo protected, helped, and sup-1 ported in every way." !
