ORDINARY MEETIXG. The Tramway Board met, yesterday afternoon. Present—Messrs C. M, Gray (chair man), J. A. Flesher, T. H. Darey, S. A. Staples, D. Sykea.'A. S. Taylor, H. Pearc* Geo. T. Booth, and Hon. J. Barr. The report of tho Works and Traffic Com. mittee. which was agreed to'unaliercd, stated that full consideration had been given to tl*s recent interruption* to tho tramway fserriw through temporary failures in the supply ol power from Lake Coleridge. The Public Works Department wrote ci-plainiug tho unusual circumstances • which led to the trouble and th© steps being taken to pre--vent recurrence. Tue committee waa hopeful that these expectations would be realised, although the possibility of occasional interruptions in a sclieme of the magnitude of | Lake Coleridge mutt be recognised. It I might interest the public" to know that when the Board agreed to take Lake Coleridge [ current for tramway purposes, it decided to I retain the whole of its existing steam plant, ao that the public' inconvenience resulting from any interruption in. the lake supply would be minimised. Tie Public Works Department arranged with the Board that in the event of such interruptions, a portion of the plant {500 kw.) would be available for the supply of other customers, leaving the Board with-fIOOO kw. for -tramway purposes As some fears had been expressed respecting' the safety of the old trailers in traffic, the committee had had a thorough examination made. The engineer xeported that they were perfectly .safe. As they would be available for -use on holiday .and other special occasions for a number of yean yet, the committee had decided to re-paint them, all inside and out. Tenders were being invited for 17 new trailers. the committee had considered the petition of a number of ratepayers on the west face of Clifton hilL a*king that the stop at MosckVt Bay should bo moved to Mulgan'e Track, and the General Manager had been directed to report further on the matter. It was decided to receive, at the next meeting of the Board, c deputation from the Spreydon Borough Council, with regard to the extension of .the tramway in. the Spreydon district, and also the question of •Digested routes.
