FIRES.
About 7 a.m. on Saturday Constable Kxall discovered an outbreak of firn in Mr Selwyn East's dentistry rooms, Colombo street, and rang up the Fire Brigade. The lire wrs in the mechanical portion of the establishment and was got under with a fire extinguisher. The damage was con lined to some mechanical apparatus, but v.-as not very serious. Shortly after noon on Saturday the Brigade received a call to nn outbreak at 77 Holly road, a house occupied by Captain Matthews. The fire evidently broke out in the coal-house, where a few of the rafters wer eeon?iderabiy charrcd. but b-ryond that jiit'e dproiige was done. The oecupanis of the house were not at home at the thito of t!:e outbreak.
