Regarding East Africa, - General Smuts reports: —"Our column operating on the Pangnni river arrived in front of the enemy position at chcni on May 22nd. The enemy m astride of the railway at a narrow neck betv.-oen the South Pare mountains and the river, and was strongly entrenched. After a reconnaissance on May 28th. tho principal trenchcs -were assaulted and carried with slight loss, as they worn insufficiently manned. . ; Tho_ enemy during the night retired to Js'ykomnli, blowing up Okowta bridge on the way. . The column, continuing its adranefc. reached'Buiko railway station.
