The car had started again, when a representative of "The Press" saw Harvey quickly dcBcending the steps, apparently realising that this was the stop where he intended to alight. Tho car had just crossed Barbadoes street, and was commencing to get up speed, when Harvey . attempted to step off the front of tho ' trailer, but instead of alighting quickly 'he held on to the handrail for a second or so, and was dragged beneath the v trailer. On looking out and seeing that the -unfortunate man was injured, "The Press" representative pressed the button several times, and ran through to - the'conductor, who immediately rang the emergency bell. On going back 1' Harvey was found lying beside the '«tramlino, with his right leg completely _ >. severed. Ho was groaning, and though .in exeruviating pain 4 appeared quite i conscious. He has several times i' represented the province, both at Lan■S caster Park and in other centres. £ That there was no appearance of the g. ambnlance-van after a period of tliirtv ininntes—from a distance which could f bo-walked in a third or, at the most, » half tho time —was tho subject of much I tfinplaint, and unfavourable comment.
