At the request of the stipendiary steward the committeo of the Southland Racing Club has summoned about tea owners, trainers, jockeys, and stable boys to give evidence before them at a meeting to bo held on June sth. in the charges of alleged dummy ism in connexion with tho training of certain horses. The heavy rain of the past few days has interfered somewhat with the training operations of hordes engaged at the Canterbury Park Trotting Club's Winter Meeting on Thursday and Saturday, but- the majority of them have been doing a fair amount of racing lately, and should not suffer greatly by the spell. With any improvement in the weather the track should be in very fair order for to-morrow's racing, for tho porous subsoil at Canterburv Park does not retain tlie moisture long. In any case, the class of the horses engaged is quite sufficient to guarantee some capital sport. The first race will start at 11.30 a.m. each day. and arrangements have beeD made for special train and tram services.
