The Town Council of Altenburg (south of Leipzig), which has a population of 40,000. is appointing a committee of women to deal with all food questions. GERMAN "WOUNDED. COMPREHENSIVE CLAIMS! LONDON, May 29. A German wireless report states that fully 85 per cent, of the German wounded are fit to resume the most arduous duties within nine'months. At present there are 1,500,000 wounded, all of whom arc returning to the front. One million of these are now ready, and the remainder are rapidly convalescing. LIEGE FORTS REBUILT. NEW KRUPP WORKS" AT MUNICH. (Received May 30fch, 5.5 p.m.) AMSTERDAM, May 30. The "Telegraaf" reports that the Germans have rebuilt the Liege forts in concrete and iron. They have also built many earth-works, and are constructing defence works north of Herve (ten miles east of Liege), along the new Aix-la-Chapelle railway. The new Krupp works at Munich occupy an area of nearly- two square miles.
