ELMWOOD SCHOOL.
to the i:ditok of ''the i'kess." Sir, —As it is the annual meeting of the householders of the Elmwood school district on Monday night, I ask the chairman to ask the old committee why something lias uot been done in regard to the gate facing Aikman's road" the new fence was nut up some months ago the gate from the school grounds opens directly <-,n to the road, and children running, as children will, from the school ground, find themselves in the middle of the road before they know- -whore they are. 1 have heard , of many narrow escapes from motor- ! cars and traps. There is a notice board i advising motorists to drive slowly, but J very often no notice is taken of the j warning. The danger is great, as there ; is no footpath on ihat side of Aikman's j load, and the road i? only half a chain in width. An expenditure of a few | shillings is all that necessary to put j the gate nine or ten feet further back. I If parents of children in the infant ! classes were only aware of the danger 1 their children run, they -would not send j them to the school until the danger is I removed. If the matter is brought up for discussion on Monday evening. 1 ' feel sure it will be well supported );v manv mothers and fathers, now they know the facts of the case. Hoping the matter will be remedied, —Yours, etc., PARENT. April 16th.
