INFANTILE PARALYSIS
FATAL CASE IN NORTH
CANTERBURY
A woman in North Canterbury died yesterday of infantile paralysis. She was 33 years of age. CASES IN SOUTHLAND. fSr-ECIAI, TO "THE PRESS.") DUNEDIN, April 7. It is some timo since a case of infantile paralysis was reported in Otago and Southland, and it wa s hoped that tho disease had been entirely arrested. Such, however, is not the case. Two new cases are reported to the authorities —a baby at Nightcaps and an adult at Otautau —and in each the diagnosis is definite. (rRESS ASSOCIATION* TELEGRAM.) PUNEDIN, April 7. (PRESS ASSOCIATION' TELEGRAM.} GISBORNE. April 7. A fourteen-months-old child who was admitted to the isolation hospital a week ago from Repongaere, died this morning. This is the sixth death since the epidemic broke out. A Native girl, eight years of age, from vMuriwai. has been admitted to the hospital, also another Native boy, 11 years of age. from Tolaga Bay. So far. seven of the patients have been discharged, the majority having been cured, whilst some will require to have massage treatment.
