DEATHS FROM EATING RAW

KOTORUA, April 7
On Thursday, Mr McConncll Hayes, of Mokai, reported to the police that one of his children was dead and four others were seriously ill, and no doctor was available. Dr. Bertram went out, and found the children apparently suffering from acute enteritis. He ascertained that they had eaten raw. •/aushrooms, but they may have eaten fungus. Tho symptoms were consistent with those of poisoning. One child, Rene, aged three years and ten months, died on Tuesday, and another, Vernon, aged 16 months, lato last night. Two others are in a critical condition.
