MAJORITY GAVE NOTICE,

WELLINGTON, March 10.
Members of the "Wellington. "Woollen Mills Employees' Union last evening further considered the question of wages increases. The wor"kers asked for 10 per cent, all round, and the Company offered 5 per cent, for the future.- with a bonus representing 5 per cent on wages earned in that portion of the year which has passed. Some weeks ago the employees declined to continue working overtime, and a week back they decided they would resign altogether if their demands were not acceded to. The Hon. A. 31. Myers, Minister of Munitions, attended, the meeting last night by invitation, of the Union, and addressed the workers. The chairman of directors (Mr-Barber} and the secretary (Mr Donne) were also invited, hut did not accept the invitation. This morning a greater number of the employees gave notice in writing of their intention to cease work within seven days. Some 200 employees, mostly resident in Petone, will be affected bv this action. A meeting of the directors of the company was held this afternoon, and the question of work at the mills probablv received, consideration. lV is understood a further conference of the parties may be arranged, possibly with the Minister of Munitions as arbitrator.
