Vender, a military aviator, climbed, with four passengers, to a Aeight of 3510 metres in twenty-eight minutes — a world's record. A New York message says Colonel T. Roosevelt, in declining to allow his name to be put forward for Presidential nomination, said that he did not wish to lead the country unless it had in its mood something heroic and unless-it was ready to devote itself to 6ome ideal of justice and fair play.
