The Minister of Defence has .received advice by cable that ,the Ninth Reinforcements have reached their destination safely. They have joined the other New Zealand troops. A special cable message from the official New Zealand war correspondent at Suez says the first detachment of the Ninth Reinforcements recently arrived, having made £K speedy voyage.The men are in good form. There'was very little sickness in tho ship. They were met by Colonel the Hon. R. Heaton Rhodes and several New Zealand officers. The men will disembark to-morrow, and will encamp at Zeitoun for further training.

,■. . * (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) LONDON, February 10. The King and Queen gave an audience to Mr Clutha Mackenzie,"who was -accompanied by his father, Sir Thomas Mackenzie. The King sympathised with Clutha in his misfortune, and expressed his warmest appreciation 'of the New Zealander's achievements. Sir Thomas Mackenzie mentioned that ho had received a letter from the Rev. Mr Featherstone, of Ingiowood, Taranaki, relating that a widow he knew had had four sons killed and three wounded, and yet she went to Wellington to wish "God-speed" to her eighth son, who was going to the front. The King instructed Sir Thomas Mackenzie to convey his admiration of the widow's patriotism and self-sacrificp, and the courageous resignation -with which she had l>ornc her, heavy loss and willingness to give her eighth and last child at the country's call.
