SERIOUS FLOODS. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) MELBOURNE, January 11. Serious floods have occurred in the Daly River district, in the Northern Territory, where the December rainfall totalled 2442 points, 1062 points of which fell in twenty-Jour hours. Thousands of buffaloes were drowned. The blacks were compelled to take shelter in trees. One rancher lost 300 cattle and 15 horses. Fears are expressed for the safety of settlers along the lower portion of the Daly river.
