' I could. see by the expression on the face of the people in motor that they recognised a collision was inevitable. A man and a woman were in the motor, and I think the woman went- to stand up. The next thing was that someone shouted 'She's down,' and we could see that a woman had bean run over. The driver erdeavoured to avoid the woman, but. the pace at which lie was going, was toe gr»at to allow him to pull up 111 time.'' . Another eye-witiiesa of the accident stated that the motor-car was going at fully 2o miles per hour, and he heard no horn blown at'all. The ear swerved widely to avoid Nurse Rai:kin, but failed to do so, and after striking her, carried her across the remaining width of the road, eventually running right utv on the footpath, straddling the gutter.
