Fitter and Sons, writing on November sth, eay:— "Home-killed Mutton. —Scotch is now beginning to bo somewhat more plentiful on the. market, and reports from Scotland lead us to believe that there are a very fair quantity of sheep now grazing. The supply of English, mutton has been fairly good, but Irish mutton has been short, and thero has been practically no Dutch. "Home-killed Lambs.—A good supply of Scotch lambs are now coming forward and aro selling freely. There arc very few English lambs now on offer. "Frozen Mutton. —A cood many New Zealand ewes are being sold on tho market, and although not quite so firm continue to mako very fair prices. Most of tho Argentine mutton available in London is rather largo, so buyers ■who wish for really primo quality have substituted Argentine tegs. Many of these, however, aro of very good quality and give satisfaction.
"Frozen Lamb. —Largo quantities of Now Zealand lambs continue to arrive, and considering the time of year aro meeting a good demand, and are making very fair prices. On account of the- scarcity of small prime mutton, bic tegs are being used in their place, and for this reason the prices of" tegs have kept un wonderfully well.' <: American and Argentino Beef.— Ihiring the past fortnight supplies of chilled beef have boeu rather" irregular ( and at times there has scarcely been any of this beef on the market. In spite of this, however, prices have had a downward tendency." The reason for this is partly because prices previously quoted wero too for the trade, and also by reason of town-killed beef being more plentiful and far cheaner in comparison. "Frozen Beef.—Prime oualitv is, of course, still very short, but there is plenty of secondary beef about, which continues to meet a very fair demand, and realises prices which in normal times would have been considered extremely high."
