Sevelal more names will be added shortlv, when lull particulars are known of those who enlisted in Australia and elsewhere. The following are inscribed on the Roll at present:—W. I{. In his sermon. earlier,4n the evening, the Rev. Laird pointed out that tbTs crisis had given the British people a better and clearer idea of the relative value of things. Ho contrasted stricken Belgium with prosperous New Zealand, as an example, though it was an example furnished with the price of blood. There was much talk of conscription, he said, at present. If conscription was enforced it would teach us the true value of the righteousness of liberty. When one saw the way in which some men and women regarded the sacrifice being made for theni by our brave soldiers, it made one wonder whether they were worth lighting for at all. The great (struggle, however, was teachinir mos t people the lesson, not only of the relative ralue of things! but also the lesson of appreciation and gratitude.
