Contrary to expectations, the F. and .S. liner Surrey, which was damaged by a mine on February 26th, and beached ■at North Deal, has been refloated, and is again safe in port at London. After the vesee] was run ashoro nothing was done, beyond salving the cargo. Eventually, however, it was decided to make an attempt to refloat ber, and on May 2Sth the feat was accomplished. Four tugboats immediately took the vessel in tow and conveyed her safely to London, where she u-as placed. in dnck. Captain Green, late of the Tokotnara, which was sunk by » German submarine to the English Channel some time ago, has been appointed master of the' Kumar a. i Captain J. F. Spring.Brown, of the Loong»na, is now master of the Psteena. which is engaged in the Melbourne-Launceeton run. Mr W. A. Hawkins, wireless operator of the Maori, and Mr Geo. Donnelly, operator of the Warrimoo, have exchanged positions. Tho Wa-katu eailed last night for Kaikoura. and instead of going on to Welling ton she will return to Lyttelton, being fixed to po north again on Sunday evening. An alteration is announced in the Homeward route of the 81i*w, Savill and Albion liner lonic. Leaving Wellington on September 16th, the vessel will proceed to Sydney, •jling from that port on September 24th Before arriving at London sho will also call at Durban and Tencriffe. Mr Wahl«rs. purser of the Shaw, Savill and Albion liner lonic, has been appointed as the Wellington Club. The Union Company's San Franciaco-Syd-my steamer Marama, 6437 tons. Captain B M. Aldwell, is due at LytteJton from Welling* ton ecrly this afternoon. She will proceed to Sydney, after loading produce, tomorrow morning.
