LIFE SAVED BY A BIBLE.
Sergeant-Major Sargeant, who was called from Owaka lOtago) for service in the Main Expeditionary Force, owes his life to the Bible. I" a letter to his wife, who resides in Ownka, he Glattxl that he was v.oinidccl on both sides—tho left groin and the right sroulder. He was first taken to Malta Hospital, thence to a British hospital. There it was found that his collarbone v?.?, also broken. SerjeantMajor Sargeant, stated that one day, before he was wounded, ho was walkiug along a trench and. seeing a srna 1 Testament, ho picked it up and pat it in his left breast pocket. That action y»robabiy .saved his life, for at the British hospital a bullet was found embedded in the book.
