In the House of Commons, Mr SteelMaitland, Under-Secretary for the Colonies, said it was quite possible that German intrigues were behind tho rising in Ceylon, Tho situation was now completely in hand. Tho position at Singapore was more serious. Ho was enquiring whether there had been German complicity. Although interned Germans had escaped, they had not participated in the mutiny.
