PRIVATE A. C. W. BAIN.
Private A. C. W. Bain (Canterbury Battalion, reported missing) is tho eldest son of Mr A. W. Bain, of 50, Park terrace. He is 22 years of age, and was educated at the Christchurch Boys' High School, subsequently continuing his studies at Canterbury College. He took an active part in the College life, and wa s a member of the 'Varsity Footliall Club. Prior to the outbreak of the war Private Bain was a student at the Normal Training Collegs, where he was qualifying for the teaching profession. He was amongst the first to enlist, and was a member of the Canterbury Battalion of the Main Expeditionary Force.
PRIVATE A. E. FRASER. Private Alfred Ernest Fraser (Canterbury Infantry Battalion, killed) was a son of Mr J. Fraser, 41 Richardson street, Opawa, for many years engineer
to the Oiristchui-h Fire Brigade. Private Fra.cr was born in Cnnsf-hurch 2*3 years ago, and educated at tho Jkist Christchurch School. Ho was employed in .Messrs Boon and Co.'s works, and at the timo he enlisted with tho Third Reinforcements was employed by a Leestou firm. Privato Fraser was a prominent footballer and cricketer. Ho played five-eighth, for the Sydenham Football Club's senior team for several years, and represented the provine© on the football field. Ho -was also a member of the Sydenham Cricket Clubs senior team.
