The Press Bureau states that the Jfirst French Division at the Dardanelles y lm Friday made considerable progress. and i s close to the Turkish trenches. Next day the enemy determinedly attacked th© left, of the Indian Brigade, gaining a temporary footing, but a strong counter-attack drove hack the Turks with the loss of five hundred. A number were also taken prisoners.

LONDON. May 25

; On the 23rd the Turks asked for, and were granted, of hostilities opposite th© Australian and New .Zealand Army Corps to enable them to bury their dead close to our trenches. Over thre©.thousand Turks were buried, all of whom wer© killed between the 18th and tho 20th.

The French, in conjunction with the British Naval Division, made a conaider--abl© advance on the night of the 24th, with slight loss.
